Most of us decorate our walls with photos of loved ones, fun memories, or artwork that resonates with us.
But how can we take this a step further?
How can we create constant reminders to stay positive, true to ourselves, and aligned with our values?
For me, whenever I come across a quote, poem, or saying that speaks to my heart, I print it out and tape it to my fridge. (I’m running out of space at this point, but no worries—I have walls!) On days when I feel lost or disconnected, I can simply glance at the positive affirmations of my core beliefs spread across my kitchen, and it helps me get back on track.
These reminders can be woven throughout your life in a way that suits you. If you’re a visual person, surrounding yourself with inspiring photos and art can work wonders. If you connect better with physical objects, find something meaningful to hold onto.
Consider placing something near your bedside, where you can see it when you first wake up. This is when your mind is in a theta state, similar to that of deep meditation, giving you access to your subconscious. Having a positive reminder nearby can help set the tone for the day and foster a sense of happiness, calm, and fulfillment from the start.
Want to take action in furthering your positivity?
Gratitude journaling within the first 10-15 minutes of waking up is another great way to start your day on a positive note. Reflecting on the good things in your life can create a deep sense of appreciation and balance. It serves as a reminder of all of the amazing bits and pieces in our lives that we may miss if we don’t take a step back and look.
Not into poetry or art? That’s okay!
You can still create your own version of a positive ritual or reminder.
For example, say a sports enthusiast wears their Incredible Hulk underwear while watching their favorite team play, and the team wins! Then every game after, the fan ensures that they are wearing that exact pair of undies. They believe that their underwear influences the outcome in a positive way, and that belief is power.
So, find your Incredible Hulk underwear and get that win every day. (I don’t think I need to say this, but please don’t wear the same underwear every day!)
Ultimately, setting reminders of your beliefs and positivity and creating daily rituals can set you up for success, happiness, and fulfillment in life.
