MAKE ROOM FOR MISTAKES

I’ve never been a scheduled, disciplined person.  I’ve always worked random shifts throughout the day.  Or night shifts.  Or, for a period of time when my child was born, no job at all aside from keeping my kid alive and fed!

But, regardless of circumstances, we all have choices and we all have the opportunity to react to each situation in either a self loving way, or a self loathing way.

Sometimes, we pile way too much onto our plate for a day that rather than feeling accomplished at the end of it for what we did get done, we allow ourselves to become disappointed because everything was not finished.

This has been me in regards to this blog.

I’ve been having difficulty remembering to post a couple times over the past few Mondays, because I was so busy accomplishing other things.  Or taking some me time.  Or taking care of my family.

It happens.

Everything else I’ve accomplished the past few weeks has been overshadowed by this one missed task.

So, I asked myself, why did I miss it.

Is it important to me?

Absolutely.

Will I mess up again?

Probably.

Is it really the end of the world and in the grand scheme of things that I didn’t post.

Definitely not.

Rather than being disappointed with ourselves that we didn’t get something accomplished, focus on everything that we did.

Our reality lies where our focus goes.

So, I let it go.  I realized it’s only been a big deal to me, and no one else cares.

This blog was created to assist in the mental health crisis, it doesn’t do me any good if I’m not practicing what I’m preaching.

Give yourself grace to not get everything finished, go make room for mistakes or to forget a task.

We are all human and we are all learning how to navigate this world together.  Let’s do it by looking forward into the endless opportunities, rather than turning back at the mistakes of the past.
