Preach Papa Roach, I feel you. My weakness is also that I care too much. Now, I’m not saying not to care, BUT, if you’re caring so much about something that is not serving you, therein lies the problem. It’s like an abusive relationship but with a situation. You keep going at it again and again, thinking it’s your responsibility to fix mistakes and pick up the slack where others are lacking.
How many times have you taken it upon yourself to do a task that wasn’t your responsibility to ensure it gets done? I’m guilty for sure. But lately, it’s really been pushing back hard. I’ve made a lot of progress the past couples years on letting things go and realizing when things are out of my control. But when I care about something, or about the people it affects, it’s hard to come to that conclusion-even if it means mental exhaustion and the heavy load of carrying the stress of something that I cannot change.
Today I’m stepping back. I’m taking back my care free, anxiety free mentality that I worked so hard towards and I’m letting that shit go.
Do you ever wonder why we care about dumb, little things that in the grand scheme is really a speck of dust in your world? A tiny little piece of this endless universe and it’s taking up so much headspace you can’t even think about anything else. It’s so ridiculous typing it out as I read it. But typing it out helps. These writings are a great outlet to reflect and realize that all of these little things are so trivial and small.
So if you’d like to join me on this path of letting go of the bullshit I gladly invite you to put it out there into the world and then proceed to squash it. It will be the best decision you’ve made all week!
